Fire Protection and Safety Division of Human Services and Emergency Response
Work Schedule:
Consistent with MCCC contract MCCC unit position
SALARY:
Minimum salary is $1,397 per credit hour. Actual salary is commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement At this time, the College is not providing sponsorships for Visas.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Fire Protection and Safety Technology program is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Fire Science courses beginning with the Fall 2026 semester. The instructor will deliver high-quality instruction aligned with program outcomes, Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) standards, industry standards, and current professional practices in the fire service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach one or more sections of Fire Science courses. Prepare course syllabi that meet all contractual requirements. Available to teach courses in a variety of modalities including online, hybrid, and face-to-face. Use appropriate assessment tools to accurately measure student understanding of the subject matter. Monitor email communications from students and the college, and respond in a timely manner. Contact Division Dean, Advising Staff, or Program Coordinator as necessary regarding student issues. Meet all deadlines for submission of grades, student alerts, and other administrative documentation. Complete all necessary training regarding the development of online courses.
Requirements:
Master's degree in the subject area or a closely related field. Fire Instructor I certification. Fire and Life Safety Educator certification preferred. A minimum of ten years of direct fire service experience as a sworn member of a fire department. Experience serving as a company officer, chief officer, fire prevention officer, fire investigator, safety officer, and/or training officer preferred. Prior teaching or training experience in subjects related to fire science and fire department operations. Experience teaching online/hybrid and/or embedding the use of technology into curriculum preferred. Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
