General Description :
Under the supervision of the Dean of Business Technologies and Public Services, the Director of Fire and Rescue Training is responsible for developing, scheduling, administering, and monitoring fire and rescue training courses. This position ensures all training conforms to institutional policies, North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) guidelines, and standards mandated by the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM). The Director provides guidance to coordinators, instructors, and acts as the primary liaison between the college and local fire departments and rescue squads. The hours for this position will vary, some evening and/or weekend hours will be required. Duties and Responsibilities of the
Position :
Design, schedule, and monitor workforce continuing education courses for Fire and Rescue services, this includes a Fire Academy Direct students, supervise part-time coordinators and instructors Perform Fire/Rescue class audits, classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and enter certification classes into the OSFM portal Attend statewide meetings of committees, boards and commissions to stay abreast on current topics and best practices in fire instruction Ensure that all course paperwork is accurate and complete Maintain collaborative partnerships with local, county, and state fire service agencies Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications :
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
NC OSFM certification tracks and practical evaluation standards. Strong leadership and organizational skills to effectively manage public safety networks Excellent communication skills for interaction with college administration and fire service leadership Proficiency with technology and social media platforms
Minimum Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency 10 years of experience in Fire Service 5 years of experience in supervision in Fire Service Familiarity with the
