Salary Range:
$65,000 - $74,000 annually, based on experience and certifications
Duties:
Under general supervision of the Fire Marshal, the Deputy Fire Marshal will provide technical assistance in the prevention of fires through public education, conducting commercial fire inspections, acceptance tests of fire protection systems, inspections of annually permitted occupancies and requested residential properties to ensure compliance with the Grayson County Fire Code. This position will review plan submittals for new construction, issue permits and certificates of compliance. In addition to the duties listed above, the Deputy Fire Marshal conducts and coordinates investigations into fires, explosives, hazardous materials incidents, environmental crimes and regulations in the unincorporated area of Grayson County. During critical incidents, may respond to emergency calls for service to assist Fire Department personnel and other public safety agencies as directed. This position serves as essential personnel and, if necessary is expected to respond 24 hours of the day.
Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Associate Degree or higher in Fire Science, Fire Protection, Criminal Justice or related field preferred. Two to Five years of fire service and/or Criminal Law Enforcement preferred. Experience as a Plans Examiner, Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector, Fire Fighter and Environmental Crimes Investigator is preferred. Current Basic or higher Texas Peace Officer License. (TCOLE) Current Basic or higher Fire and/or Arson Investigator License. (TCFP) Current Basic or higher Fire Plans Examiner, Fire Inspector License. (TCFP) Life Safety Educator, Instructor Certification.
TCFP & TCOLE
Basic or higher Fire Marshal Certification. (TCFP) Hazardous Materials Technician Certification. (TCFP) IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800 Certifications. Structural Firefighter Certification. (TCFP) Emergency Medical Technician Basic or higher. (DSHS) Valid Class C Texas Driver's License. Any combination of education, experience, certifications and licenses will be considered. If hired without the following certifications, you will be required to acquire within the first year of employment and maintain the following certifications: Texas Commission on Fire Protection, Fire Inspector, Plans Examiner & Fire/Arson Investigator.
