Job Description
The City is tasking its Police & Fire Commission (PFC) with finding a highly qualified candidate to fill the vacancy in the position of Fire Chief. The current Chief will be retiring mid December 2026 giving the new appointee the opportunity to work with the outgoing Chief during a transition period. Salary range is $110,000 - $120,000. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Aug. 28, 2026. The Fire Department is an "all-hazards" organization providing fire suppression, prevention, code enforcement and investigation services along with those involving mutual aid ambulance services, interfacility transfers, hazardous materials, and technical rescue. It is a combination department staffed by fourteen full-time firefighters (counting the Fire Chief, 15) and one Administrative Assistant and is authorized to have another twenty-four paid-on-call firefighters.
