Job Description
The District is seeking to establish a hiring list for the position of Recruit Firefighter. Personnel are assigned a 56-hour workweek on the 48/96 schedule. The successful candidate will be an individual with the ability to perform the physically and mentally demanding job of a Firefighter, demonstrate strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, have a willingness to learn and train, and adapt to necessary change. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the ability to interact with and serve both a multigenerational and diverse workforce and the public. Employees currently work 48-hour shifts, followed by 96 hours off-duty; however, incumbents may be assigned to a 40-hour workweek. The SFMD reserves the right to adjust shifts, pay, benefits, and working conditions in accordance with business needs and SFMD Policies.
