Job Description

FIRE ENGINEER
An exciting opportunity is available for a career-minded individual as a full-time Fire Engineer. Under general supervision, operates and maintains firefighting equipment and vehicles and performs a variety of firefighting functions.
PLEASE NOTE
This is an internal promotion opportunity for current employees of the Coolidge Fire Department only. Full-Time, FLSA Non-exempt position

$61,898 - $92,647 annually

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum • High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two (2) years fire service experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Required A valid Arizona Driver's License and First Aid/CPR Certification. Arizona Firefighter I and II Certification. Arizona EMT Certification or NREMT Certification Emergency Vehicle Operating Certification (or equivalent training as approved by the Fire Chief)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates firefighting vehicles, equipment and related apparatus at fire and emergency scenes; assists in ensuring the protection of life, property and the environment. Inspects and maintains vehicles, tanks, hoses, nozzles, sirens, horns, radios, air packs, hydraulic systems, pressure gauges, and other related equipment. Prepares plumbing operations; ensures fire hydrants are located, connections are made and equipment is properly deployed. Ensures water pressure is at designated pressure and suction/fire hoses are properly located; monitors conditions of motor and equipment during operations; makes necessary adjustments as required. Performs rescue, life maintenance operations, and firefighting activities; raises ladders and operates extinguishers, bars, hooks, and lines. Conducts equipment apparatus checks in relation to pumps, ignitions, batteries, and brakes; provides repair for malfunctions or reports to appropriate personnel. Completes and maintains logs, forms and reports of activities in accordance with departmental guidelines. Learns and stays current regarding street names and fire hydrant locations; develops and maintains a high degree of familiarity with surrounding areas and road networks. Attends instruction sessions in firefighting methods, equipment operation, rescue procedures, HAZMAT mitigation, and other related subjects; participates in training drills and classes. May assist with conducting training drills and exercises as required.
