QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D, and one (1) year fire service experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Required A valid Arizona Driver's License Arizona Firefighter I and II Certification Arizona EMT Certification or NREMT Certification Testing Oral Board and Chief Interview Must successfully complete a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responds to fire and emergency alarms; performs a variety of fire suppression functions including ventilation, overhaul, salvage, and fire scene cleanup. Places fire hoses, sets ladders, and operates fire streams; operates pneumatic and auxiliary equipment, rope systems, technical rescue, and HAZ MAT equipment. Ventilates and enters burning structures to extinguish fires and rescue victims. Provides assistance to EMS personnel in the transport and medical care of emergency and non-emergency patients; communicates with medical staff via two-way radio or phone. Operates, inspects and maintains emergency response equipment and vehicles; performs minor repairs on equipment and vehicles or reports deficiencies to appropriate personnel. Cleans and maintains patient care compartment of emergency vehicles; orders emergency response supplies as required. Operates, inspects and maintains emergency apparatus, fire engine and other fire equipment; performs minor repairs inside and outside of facilities. Performs station maintenance; cleans and maintains living quarters in an orderly condition. Responds to HAZ MAT incidents; makes recommendations regarding the storage, handling and usage of flammable liquids and other hazardous materials. Maintains records and logs of work completed and in-progress; retrieves and enters information into departmental computer system; prepares statistical and analytical reports as required. Facilitates and participates in public relations, disaster preparedness, fire/safety education, and fire prevention activities including school education programs, group activities, fire drills, and station tours. Participates in drills and training exercises in relation to firefighting, EMS technical rescue, extrication, physical fitness, and other related areas
