Under the supervision of a ranking officer participates in all departmental activities to protect lives and property within the City. Responsibilities include but are not limited to responding to general calls for service and emergency calls, participating in fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical response activities, disaster operations, hazardous materials release, and other incidents according to established plans and procedures. Minimum Qualifications include:
High School diploma or equivalent, ability to pass a background check, pre-employment physical and drug test, Firefighter I & II certified, EMT-B certified, Hazmat Operations certification, valid State of Michigan Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record with the ability to maintain one throughout employment, and the ability to meet the physical and mental standard prescribed by the National Fire Protection Association.
Preferred Skills :
Our preferred candidate possesses an associate's degree or equivalent education and training in fire science or related field, previous firefighting or public safety experience. A qualified candidate will be classified as a Firefighter/EMT with a pay range starting at $21.21/hour and maxing at $27.40/hour. This is a full-time position with a schedule working rotating 24-hour shifts. The position is based on 2808 annual hours. The City of Grandville is an EEO/AA Employer. •
