Job Description
The City of Brooklyn Park is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter. A firefighter performs hazardous firefighting and rescue tasks under arduous conditions, which require strenuous exertion under Immediate Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) conditions. Firefighters may remove persons from danger and administer emergency medical treatment to ill and injured people. A firefighter will also perform routine duties at a fire station to include cleaning, maintaining, and repairing property and equipment, and training and fire prevention activities. Firefighters will be assigned to work on secondary assignments which may call for special abilities and knowledge attained through experience and training. Firefighters prioritize building positive relationships through public education, community engagement, and outreach efforts. Firefighters actively host a diverse range of public education events to engage and educate the population of our city. In addition to educating the public, firefighters also assist with pre-planning efforts to maintain familiarity with their community.
