A Firefighter responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls. Puts out fires and rescues people from buildings. Responds to medical emergencies and assists with search and rescue efforts and industrial or hazardous waste accidents. Provides fire prevention programs or inspections in the community. May be specially trained to fight forest fires.

Job Description
Perform emergency medical aid and rescue operations, including administering first aid and basic life support measures, operate EMS equipment such as cardiac monitor/defibrillators, portable suction units, and other life-saving tools. Engage in firefighting activities, including driving and operating fire and ambulance apparatus. Operate pumps, lay and connect hoses, perform fire suppression, containment, ventilation, and extinguishment tasks. Must be 18 years of age, with a High School Diploma or GED and a valid MN Class D driver's license and live within 25 minutes travel time of the fire station. Certifications required within 2 years of hire are: Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials-Operational Level, State of MN EMT Certification and BLS Provider.
