Job Description

The Berkeley Fire Department is seeking qualified candidates to staff the position of Firefighter/Paramedic through our FEMA Safer Grant and also will establish a list for future hiring. Applications accepted until December 23, 2025 at 5:00PM. Please submit completed applications to our Administrative Offices at Berkeley Fire Department Engine House 1 located at 8401 Airport Road, Berkeley, MO 63134 normal business hours are 8:30AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday.

Union Shop Job Summary Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide life-saving medical care as needed. Assess patients' conditions by checking vital signs and performing necessary first aid procedures. Operate fire apparatus and equipment during emergency responses, ensuring safe driving practices. Perform basic life support (BLS) procedures and advanced life support (ALS) as required. Engage in heavy lifting and moving of patients or equipment during emergencies. Conduct routine maintenance checks on firefighting and medical equipment to ensure operational readiness. Participate in training exercises, drills, and ongoing education to maintain skills and certifications. Collaborate with other emergency services personnel to provide comprehensive care during incidents. Maintain accurate records of patient care and incident reports in compliance with regulations. Other duties as assigned by Fire Chief or other lead personnel. Professional Qualifications Required High School Graduate or GED Graduate of the St. Louis County Fire Academy preferred but not mandatory to apply State of Missouri Firefighter I and II certifications. State of Missouri Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations certifications. Current State of Missouri Paramedic Licensure Current
BLS, ACLS, PALS, & PHTLS
