Job Description

The Town of Boone Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter. This employee performs intermediate protective service work in driving a fire apparatus, operating pumps, and fire suppression. Work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard. Work is performed under regular supervision. Work schedule is a 24.25-hour shift.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable firefighting experience.
Special Requirements:
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina. Possession of Level I & II Firefighter Certification and EMT-Basic certificate. All certifications shall be recognized by the State of North Carolina. Must meet and maintain all department and state training and certification requirements for position.
Residency Requirement:
Applicants shall reside in one of the following counties: Watauga, Avery, Ashe, Caldwell, Wilkes or Johnson County, TN.
Salary:
$ 58,433 plus excellent benefits. Employee will serve a six-month probation. Town of Boone is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
