Position Summary:
The selected individual performs responsible firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical care work for the Town of Milford. Assists in fire prevention and public education, minor vehicle maintenance, and, building maintenance. Works under the supervision of the shift Lieutenant or a designated officer where appropriate.
Requirements:
The work requires a knowledge of firefighting, technical rescue, and emergency medical care. Will require a 24-hour shift from 7:00 am - 7:00 am using the following schedule: 1 on 1 off, 1 on 1 off, 1 on 4 off (56-hour work week). Annual Kelly days will be offered. These days are not calculated in the annual hours worked or as part of PTO. This position is in a progressive department that responds to approximately 1400 calls for service annually. It requires skilled work that consists primarily of delivering emergency services to the residents of the community. Principally, these services are delivered in areas of fire suppression & protection, rescue, hazardous materials, and emergency medical services (non-transport). The role is eligible for emergency callback.
Minimum Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified New Hampshire Firefighter Level II
- EMT (if hired without, must obtain within 1 year)
- Must possess current CPAT Certificate or comply with
NHFSTEMS
Rule part 703 for lateral transfers
NH CDL B
with tank and air brake endorsements (if hired without, must obtain within 6 months)
- Must meet physical and medical requirements established by the department.
- May require response to emergency incidents outside normal working hours.
