The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Program, a program within CVCB, is responsible for paying for all sexual assault exams conducted for victims who were sexually assaulted in the State of Kansas. This position is responsible for supporting the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Program within the Crime Victims Compensation Office. The position will handle all tasks associated with the SAFE Program through the entering of payments to hospitals, clinics, and child advocacy centers conducting forensic examinations for sexual assault victims. This position will manage more than 1,500 claims for processing through the SAFE Program annually. This position works closely with internal staff, forensic nurses, medical providers, billing agents, victim advocates, and external stakeholders to help ensure bills are paid timely and appropriate referrals are made.Major Duties:
Receives SAFE Program forms and reviews for completeness. Completes data entry in claims management system. Scans documents into document management system. Reviews and assesses billing information for required information. Communicates with medical providers and billing offices to obtain required information. Enters bills for payment in claims management system. Supports the development and maintenance of required forms, records, reports, and program files. Provides technical assistance and guidance to providers regarding program requirements and expectations. Assists with the development, revision, and implementation of policies, procedures, forms, and administrative regulations related to the SAFE program. Screens SAFE applications to refer for financial assistance for expenses not covered by SAFE. Assists with compiling data for annual report to the Governor and Legislature.General Responsibilities:

Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, sociology, social work, or similar field(s). Minimum of one (1) year of experience interacting with clients, customers, or the public in a social service, customer service, or problem resolution setting. Excellent attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.Knowledge & Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with forensic nurses, medical providers, victim advocates, and other office staff. Knowledge or understanding about the dynamics of victimization. Knowledge of legal concepts and practices. Ability to use discretion regarding confidential material and to understand the legal code of ethics. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing. Willingness to pitch in and help others beyond "assigned" caseload. Ability to work 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday and occasionally beyond, with prior approval. Ability to type 55wpm with a high level of accuracy.Additional Duties:

A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the Office of Kansas Attorney General. Applicants (including non-residents) who receive a formal job offer for a State job, are required to obtain a valid Tax Clearance within ten (10) days of the job offer. A Tax Clearance can be obtained through the Kansas Department of Revenue who reviews individual accounts for compliance with Kansas Tax Law.
