LOCATION OF POSITION
Division of Claims Services Mailroom\r\n201 W. Preston Street\r\nBaltimore, MD 21201\r\n Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to provide general administrative support with data entry,\r\nsorting, batching, logging and microfilming claims and mail in the Claims Control Section of\r\nthe Office of Systems Operations and Pharmacy (OSOP) Claims Processing/Mail Room Division. The\r\nClaims Control Section is the point of entry for over 11 million claims for Maryland\r\nMedicaid Professional Fee for Service Claims processing. This position is responsible for the\r\nday-to-day front-end processing for data entry of claims, mail processing/batch control, batch\r\nstorage/output distribution, microfilm/claims retrieval and FEDEX, UPS and USPS deliveries\r\nand pickups. This position must have knowledge and experience performing diverse clerical\r\nduties which support agency operations that require the review, verification and interpretation of\r\ninformation in order to make determinations and resolve problems in accordance with policies,\r\nregulations and laws applicable to agency programs. This position must be able to determine if\r\nthe appropriate billing methodologies were followed in accordance with Maryland Medicaid\r\npolicies and procedures.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis Office Clerk I must be able to perform data entry functions, assist with the\r\nstorage area, and mail room duties, to include sorting, processing, filing medical claims invoices\r\nor other documents pertinent to agency programs, regulations and procedures. This position is the\r\nprimary source for opening, sorting, batch control, data entry, scanning and microfilming claims.\r\nStaff are responsible for following the OSOP mail room policies and procedures as it relates to\r\nclaims processing and mail desk standard operating procedures in accordance with Federal and\r\nState requirements and other duties as assigned.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
� � Completion of the eighth grade.\r\n
Experience:
� Six months experience performing clerical duties in an office environment.\r\n
Notes:
�\r\n1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.\r\n2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for the required experience.\r\n3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for the required experience. \r\n4.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the�Clerical Support field of work on a year-for year basis for the required experience.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience with data entry/recordkeeping�\r\n Experience with detailed oriented tasks\r\n Experience prioritizing and managing high volumes of mail\r\n\r\n\r\n
