Job Description

The Putnam County District Attorney's Office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant District Attorney (Financial Crimes). Applicants must reside in Putnam County or a contiguous county within the State of New York and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the office be citizens of the United States. This position will involve prosecuting financial and economic crimes focusing on complex and long-term investigations. The Assistant District Attorney would be involved at the inception of the cases, working with local police agencies at the investigative stage to issue legal process (subpoenas, warrants, etc.) through the disposition of the case (plea or trial). Duties and responsibilities will include handling a financial crimes felony caseload, as well as prosecuting felony or misdemeanor cases out of the assigned local court including preliminary proceedings, discovery practice, motion practice, grand jury presentations when, pretrial hearings, through trial and sentencing. Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Criminal Procedure Law and Penal Law; ability to analyze, appraise and apply legal principles, facts and precedents to cases; ability to review and analyze large amounts of financial and technical documentation; and can work independently and as part of a team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a license and current registration to practice law in the State of New York and other qualifications as the District Attorney may prescribe.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three or more years of experience in criminal prosecution, at least one year of experience in prosecuting financial crimes.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
•: This position is considered to be a public officer. The holder of this position must be a United States citizen, and a resident of Putnam County or a contiguous County within NYS, and maintain residency for the duration of employment. Pursuant to Public Officers Law Article 2, Section 3, 55

$105,000
SCHEDULE:
Full-time, Monday - Friday
