Job Description

The City will not consider applicants who have used tobacco or nicotine products for a period of at least three months prior to application for employment. The definition of "tobacco or nicotine products" includes but is not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, pipes, snuff, e-cigarettes, and nicotine patches or gum. The intern will assist with all aspects of the City's legal department. Assist mentor with various aspects of litigation, including researching and drafting motions, preparing memoranda and observing court hearings Research and draft ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions Observe City board meetings Participate in projects as may be assigned by Assistant City Attorneys Draft agreements Must be a current law student, graduate law student or student entering law school Knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills Proficiency in legal research and drafting Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Computer skills: Microsoft Office 2010 and Westlaw Learning Goals Knowledge of city government Understand role of City Attorney's Office Draft various legal documents
Internship Dates:
June 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026 (9 weeks)
