Job Description
Assistant Director of Law Police Accountability Team The Mayor's Office is building a team that will providecontinued support to the Cleveland Division of Police ("CDP") to fullycomply witha 2015 Consent Decreeaimed at strengthening the City's police force. The Mayor's Police AccountabilityTeam ("PAT")workstofacilitatean objective and thorough review processof the Consent Decreeandassistwithitsimplementation. The goal is to achieve successful compliance, continuous review, and collaboration with CDP. Objectives will include policy review, updates, audits, and critical data analysis to capture results and make recommendations forappropriate modificationsto ensure best practices going forward, post Consent Decree. The City of Cleveland's Department of Law seeks an attorney to provide legal support andexpertiseto thePATand to support the continued implementation efforts on the Consent Decree.
Under the direction of the PAT Executive Director, the attorney willbe a criticalcomponentto the City's police reform work. A strong work ethic, passion for public service, and strong academic credentials, research and legal-writing skills arerequired.
Ohio Barmembership in good standingisrequired.
The ideal candidate must be hard- working, technically proficient, and able to analyze complex issues of law all while working well as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
