Job Description

The salary for the position will be set based on experience with a range beginning at $110,593.60. A competitive benefits package is also provided. This is a State of Ohio, exempt, unclassified position. Background Check The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration. Supreme Court of Ohio Justice Daniel R. Hawkins is accepting applications for the position of Judicial Law Clerk in his chambers. This position will commence September 2026.
What You'll Do:
Law Clerks/Judicial Attorneys review and analyze arguments presented in a variety of motions and memoranda involving all areas of the Supreme Court's jurisdiction under Article IV, Section 2(B) of the Ohio Constitution. In addition, Law Clerks/Judicial Attorneys research and prepare initial drafts of merit opinions at the direction of the Justice. What we're looking for\: Applicants must be law school graduates, licensed to practice and in good standing with excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills. Prior clerkship experience with an Appellate Court Judge or a Supreme Court Justice is preferred. The ability to work independently, collaboratively, and efficiently is required.
