D., J.D. No Commission 40.00 hours per week / Day Shift / Full-Time
Description Essential Job Functions:
1. Possess and apply knowledge of Pennsylvania civil and criminal law, including but not limited to constitutional law, rules of procedure, statutory law, case law, rules of evidence, and other court rules. 2. Conduct legal research with knowledge of online research platforms, legal reference materials, and application of efficient legal research techniques. 3. Review pleadings, petitions, motions, briefs, and other legal documents filed with the Court. Engage in discussions with Judge to implement course of action to timely resolve issues raised in legal filings. 4. Assist Judge in researching complex legal issues before the Court. Research and consult with the Judge on legal issues arising before, during and after court proceedings. 5. Attend court proceedings to assist the Judge with complex legal issues which may arise. 6. Draft opinions, orders, and memoranda in a logical and coherent manner in the style required by the Judge. 7. Maintain accurate and well-organized court calendars and work assignment lists. Track cases pending decision by the Court and timely update the Judge. 8. Communicate and respond to attorneys, litigants, court personnel, and the public regarding administrative questions and questions to the court docket. 9. Establish effective working relationships with the Judge, judicial assistants, other Judges and their staff, Court Administrator, and other court personnel.
Other Duties:
1. Assists with public legal functions, i.e., mock trials, Law Day, etc. 2. Assists in supervising extern law students. 3. Assist Senior Judges and Visting Judges in the performance of their duties. 4. Assist the Court as a Designated Reviewer for the Guardian Tracking System 5. Manage the law library. 6. Provide technical and legal guidance to court personnel. 7. Attends seminars, trainings, and meetings as required. 8. Performs other job-related duties as required.
