Employment Law Employment Law Attorney Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Employment Law Attorney to join a highly respected law firm representing educational institutions throughout California. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with civil litigation experience who is interested in developing or expanding their employment law practice within the education sector. The ideal candidate will enjoy working directly with clients, handling sophisticated legal matters, and collaborating with a supportive team in a flexible work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Defend educational institutions, including school districts, charter schools, community colleges, and universities in employment-related matters. Handle employment litigation matters from inception through resolution, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation. Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents. Manage all aspects of discovery, including written discovery, document review, and depositions. Represent clients in administrative proceedings, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and civil litigation. Provide day-to-day counseling on employment issues, personnel matters, workplace investigations, and risk mitigation strategies. Partner with clients to ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case developments and litigation strategy. Stay current on developments in California employment law and education-related legal issues.
Qualifications:
1-10 years of legal experience. Civil litigation defense experience strongly preferred. Employment law experience is a plus but not required. Experience with law and motion practice, discovery, and depositions preferred. Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills. Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and client relationship skills. J.D. from an accredited law school. Licensed in CA and in good standing.
