  • to others and to self, the ability to empathize and understand Requirements Must successfully pass the North Carolina Bar Examination and obtain a license to practice law in North Carolina as a condition of employment 0-3 years of legal experience, with exposure to both civil litigation and transactional business law Demonstrated interest in developing a practice that includes both civil litigation and business law, with assignments varying based on firm and client needs Reside in the Charlotte, North Carolina metro area, and have the capacity to attend depositions, hearings, trials, mediations, client meetings, and other events in person as needed Ability to work effectively from home Proficiency with Mac OS, Adobe, Outlook, Zoom, Microsoft Word, and other common office technology Ability and desire to work independently or as part of a litigation or transactional team with minimal support/supervision Daily Responsibilities A VC Civil Litigation & Business Law Associate Attorney manages a caseload of 10-50 open matters consisting of a mix of civil litigation and business transactional matters from file opening to closing.
The balance between practice areas will vary based on firm and client needs. Some matters are handled independently while in others the lawyer acts as part of a team.
You will:
Make strategic decisions in your clients' litigation and business matters Prepare and serve pleadings, motions, discovery requests, notices, and correspondence in civil litigation matters Schedule and attend trials, hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings Draft, review, and negotiate business agreements and other transactional documents Counsel businesses and their owners on transactions, governance, operations, and risk management Communicate directly with clients and provide practical, straightforward legal guidance Attend firm events and meetings Compensation, Benefits & Perks VC utilizes a compensation package that maximizes flexibility and allows attorneys to set and achieve their own compensation goals. VC's compensation package includes: Compensation consists of a base salary and a performance-based bonus that has no cap. Including base salary and bonus, an Associate Attorney with the experience detailed above can expect to make between $100,000
