Company Description Ahmed Law & Mediation is a client-centered family law practice based in White Plains, NY, dedicated to helping families navigate life transitions with dignity and mutual respect. Our practice focuses on collaborative and alternative dispute resolution processes — including divorce mediation, prenuptial mediation, collaborative divorce, and collaborative family law. We believe families are best served when they retain control over their own outcomes. Our approach prioritizes self-determination, open communication, and the reduction of conflict so that families can move forward with clarity and confidence. When court involvement is necessary, we advocate thoughtfully and with our clients' best interests at the forefront. Role Description This is a full-time, hybride role for a Family Law Associate based in White Plains, NY. The Associate will work alongside clients in structured collaborative and mediation processes, guiding families toward mutually agreed resolutions wherever possible. Responsibilities include advising clients through collaborative divorce and separation processes, drafting and reviewing settlement agreements and prenuptial agreements, participating in four-way meetings and mediation sessions, maintaining detailed case records, and appearing in Family Court when required. The Associate will be a committed advocate for client self-determination and a skilled practitioner of interest-based negotiation, while also being comfortable and confident in a courtroom setting. Qualifications Strong knowledge of family law, including divorce, separation, child custody, child support, and prenuptial agreements Experience with Family Court appearances and litigation, alongside a genuine commitment to resolving matters collaboratively wherever possible Training or experience in collaborative law, mediation, or other alternative dispute resolution processes preferred Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to hold space for clients navigating emotionally sensitive transitions Ability to facilitate productive dialogue between parties with competing interests while maintaining professionalism and neutrality Proficiency in case management and organizational skills to handle multiple matters simultaneously Familiarity with child welfare considerations and collaboration with mental health or financial professionals in interdisciplinary processes is a plus JD and admission to the New York State Bar A self-starter who takes initiative, manages their caseload proactively, and brings energy and ownership to their work Highly collegial team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and contributes positively to firm culture Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to reducing conflict and supporting family self-determination Ahmed Law & Mediation offers a competitive compensation package including a guaranteed base salary of $85,000 for associates meeting annual billing targets. High performers are rewarded through an incentive bonus structure that pays 10% of fees collected on hours billed above the annual threshold, with no cap on earnings. The minimum annual billable hours requirement is 1,600.
