Law Clerk - II Fusion Solution San Diego, CA Job Details Full-time | Contract $40 - $45 an hour 19 hours ago Qualifications Immigration law Law Westlaw Word processing Spreadsheets Legal discovery LexisNexis Desktop applications Document imaging Legal research databases Productivity software Technical Proficiency File organization Full Job Description Key Responsibilities Work with assigned AUSAs and/or supervisory attorneys to determine applicable administrative, statutory, and regulatory law, and to identify possible defenses, violations, or causes of action. Develop an understanding of all applicable federal, state, or local laws and keep abreast of any new criminal and civil rules and procedures. Alert AUSAs to all potential issues while conducting reviews and analyzing and interpreting data within case files. Oversee practice regarding 28 Medical - Healthcare Institution Section 2255 (habeas corpus) and immigration habeas matters, including receiving, docketing, calendaring due dates, coordinating file retrieval, preparing draft responses, and ensuring timely filing. Analyze statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agency rules and regulations, and law review articles for assigned cases, including those of an especially complex or unprecedented nature. Support AUSAs by briefing attorneys on pertinent facts, issues, and case law. Draft correspondence and legal documents for attorney signature. Draft proposed orders for the signature of judges and magistrates. Required Qualifications Law degree, current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least two years of completed study, an equivalent level of legal training or experience, or an equivalent level of substituted education. At least two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order-related projects, with proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys. Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Preferred Qualifications [Information Not Provided]
