Job Description

Header Overview Join the Marc Chavez Law Firm as a Fall/Spring Legal Intern and gain invaluable hands-on experience across a diverse range of legal disciplines. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with seasoned attorneys, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop your legal skills in a fast-paced, professional environment. Whether you're interested in criminal law, civil law, or litigation, this role provides a comprehensive exposure to the legal field while supporting the firm's commitment to excellence and client service. Ideal candidates are motivated, not afraid of hard work, detail-oriented, and eager to expand their legal knowledge through active participation in casework, court experience, and client relationships. Duties Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and clarity. Review and organize case files utilizing document management systems like MyCase; ensure all client files are accurate and up-to-date. Participate in client meetings under attorney supervision to gather relevant information for case development. Manage administrative tasks including opening client files, filing, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and maintaining organized case calendars. Support court schedule management by tracking deadlines, preparing client cases, and coordinating communication among team members. Assist with evidence review processes for discovery purposes while adhering to confidentiality standards. Experience Currently enrolled in an accredited law school or undergraduate program or pursuing a paralegal certification preferred. Prior paralegal or legal administrative experience is highly preferred; familiarity with law office procedures is a plus. Knowledge of multiple practice areas such as personal injury and criminal law is a plus. Proficiency with legal research tools including Westlaw and LexisNexis is a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to proofread writing meticulously and transcribe accurately. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment; demonstrated project management skills are beneficial.
