Job Description
The City of Westminster has several vacancies for part-time Police Aide Applying for the Police Aide position is a great way to start your career towards public service. If law enforcement is something that interests you, then this part-time position might be the right fit! As a Police Aide, you may be rotated throughout various divisions such as: Front Desk, Investigations, Records, Patrol Division, Communications, Jail Operations, Administrative Services, Parking Control, and Animal Control. Police Aides perform a wide variety of routine administrative duties to support unit operations. The ideal candidate is someone who is able to: Learn basic functions, principles, and practices of law enforcement agencies. Learn to interpret, apply, and explain applicable Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, policies, technical processes, and procedures. Learn techniques, methods, and processes of police record management and retrieval. Learn police terminology and law enforcement codes. Organize, research, and maintain technical and administrative files. Enter data into a computer system and prepare written materials with sufficient speed and accuracy to perform the work. Make accurate arithmetic and statistical calculations. File and maintain automated and hardcopy records with accuracy. Establish and maintain a variety of filing, record keeping, and tracking systems. Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines. Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment and specialized software applications programs. Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing. Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines. Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade; additional coursework in specialized public service, police science, or closely related field is desirable.Licenses and Certifications:
