Job Description

Job Summary The Muscatine County Sheriff's Office will conduct testing on multiple dates to maintain a hiring list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. The position is full-time and includes county health benefits and paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Beginning salary is $31.26 per hour for an uncertified officer (additional if certified, depending on experience). Job offers will be contingent upon passing a background check, which may include drug testing and polygraph.

The Muscatine County Sheriff's Office has revised its residency area to include the bordering counties of Scott, Cedar, Johnson, and Louisa.

Testing will be held on the following dates:

Saturday, September 19, 2026Saturday, January 16, 2027Saturday, April 10, 2027Physical testing sign-in will begin at 9:45 A.M., with the test beginning at 10:00 A.M. (Iowa certified officers are exempt from both physical and written testing. Certified officers may have to acquire their most recent POST exam score). The written test will begin at 12:00 P.M. Late arrivals will not be allowed entry. Location of testing will be announced after the application deadline for each testing date.
