Deputy Sheriff

Job Overview The Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for Deputies. The Deputy Sheriff plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order within the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a commitment to public safety, and the ability to handle various situations with professionalism and integrity.

Responsibilities:

Enforce local & state laws while maintaining public safety. Conduct traffic stops, issue citations, and make arrests when necessary. Respond to emergency calls and provide first aid or CPR as needed. Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses or suspects. Prepare detailed reports on incidents and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies for surveillance and intelligence sharing. Manage conflict situations effectively to ensure community safety. Participate in community outreach programs to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the public. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends & holidays.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related field is preferred. Must be 21 years old Must possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record Successful completion of police academy training or equivalent experience in law enforcement - MUST

HOLD A CURRENT KLEC/POPS CERTIFICATION.

Physical Agility Test Suitability Screener Test Complete Personal History Previous experience in law enforcement is preferred but not mandatory. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required. Strong leadership abilities with a focus on teamwork and collaboration. Proficient in conflict management techniques to de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. A background check will be conducted on all applicants, including but not limited to interviewing family, friends, neighbors and previous employers Candidates must allow access to social media history Knowledge of surveillance methods and practices Ability to operate in high-pressure environments while maintaining composure.
