Back to all jobs Police Cadet Until Filled (PST) Police Meridian Charter Township, MI, USA 16.00 per hour Part Time DUTIES Assigned office and clerical duties Equipment and facility maintenance Routine police service requests at the reception area Report writing in cases of minor nature Answering and directing incoming phone calls Selected community service assignments Substitute as crossing guard
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled as a student at an institution of higher education or at discretion of Chief of Police. Criminal Justice students preferred. An interest in law enforcement or related field. This includes problem-solving Ability to understand and carry out oral and written orders/instructions Ability to analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective, reasonable course of action Ability to work courteously and professionally with the public Ability to develop cooperative working relationships with fellow employees Attitude toward the mission of Meridian Township Police Department United States citizen Posses a valid Drivers License Police cadets get a firsthand glimpse into law enforcement in Meridian Township. Our police cadets work hand and hand with MTPD officers on a daily basis and have access to regular ride alongs. The position has been used as a precursor for sponsorship through the police academy and a gateway to full-time employment as a Meridian Township Police Officer. Though not all cadets are awarded sponsorship through the police academy, we have identified cadets that we believe embody what it means to be a Meridian Township Police Officer and awarded sponsorships and full-time positions.
