Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief of Police to lead our law enforcement agency with integrity, innovation, and a commitment to community safety. As the top law enforcement officer, you will oversee all departmental operations, foster strong community relationships, and ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors alike. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape policing strategies, implement best practices, and lead a dedicated team of officers and staff toward excellence in service. Duties Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the police department, setting clear goals aligned with community needs. Oversee daily operations, including patrol activities, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, and community outreach programs. Manage departmental resources efficiently, including staffing, budgeting, equipment procurement, and technology deployment such as surveillance systems. Lead complex criminal investigations by coordinating with detectives, forensic teams, and external agencies to solve cases effectively. Ensure departmental compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies related to law enforcement practices, including immigration law and animal handling when applicable. Foster positive relationships with community members through public meetings, outreach initiatives, and transparent communication to build trust and cooperation. Promote a safe working environment by implementing conflict management strategies and maintaining high standards of professionalism among staff. Oversee emergency response planning and coordinate with local first responders for incidents requiring immediate action such as accidents or public safety threats. Maintain accurate report writing for investigations, incident logs, departmental records, and legal documentation to ensure accountability and transparency. Qualifications Proven leadership experience in law enforcement or military service with a strong record of managing teams effectively. Extensive knowledge of criminal investigation techniques, report writing standards, and law enforcement procedures. Demonstrated ability in conflict management, crisis response, and community engagement strategies. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate departmental vehicles safely at all times. Certifications in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, surveillance techniques, security protocols, and animal handling are highly desirable. Familiarity with immigration law enforcement procedures is a plus. Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations tactfully while maintaining professionalism. Experience in security management or loss prevention is beneficial for overseeing departmental assets and facilities. Pay:
$62,284.08 - $65,000.00 per year
