https://www.bighorncountymt.gov/DocumentCenter/View/144 Job Overview Big Horn County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire 1 School Resource Officer (SRO). The SRO will be responsible for enforcing laws, investigating crimes at the Hardin School District Schools, and working with the students, School Staff and Public to build and maintain their trust. Responsibilities Enforce local laws, and regulations with professionalism and integrity. Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports. Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and incidents to provide assistance and maintain order. Utilize surveillance techniques to monitor school areas and prevent criminal activity. Perform first aid and CPR when necessary to provide immediate medical assistance. Manage conflict situations with calmness and effective conflict resolution strategies. Lead outreach projects to build trust and promote safety awareness among students and staff. Maintain accurate records through comprehensive report writing and documentation of daily activities. Operate law enforcement vehicles safely while adhering to traffic laws during patrols. Work after school activities such as sports events and school dances. Lateral Transfers and POST certified applicants with SRO experience are preferred but will train the right applicant Recommended Skills SRO training and experience Proven leadership abilities with experience in military or law enforcement settings. Strong knowledge of criminal investigation procedures and report writing standards. Skilled in surveillance techniques, conflict management, and animal handling. Certified in first aid and CPR; capable of providing emergency medical assistance. Excellent driving record with the ability to operate law enforcement vehicles safely. Effective communication skills for interacting with diverse community members and team members alike.
