UPPS is a centralized department with sworn police officers who have full law enforcement authority serving all of the PSU campuses with our headquarters being located at University Park. UPPS is seeking an individual interested and committed to serving the diverse community of students, faculty, and staff as a Patrol Lieutenant at the University Park Campus. In addition to acting in the role of a Police Officer, when necessary, thePatrol Lieutenantis responsible for supervising patrol operations across multiple shifts. The position will be responsible for directing patrol activities, developing patrol strategies, reviewing incident reports, assisting or conducting event planning, and acting in an incident command role. As part of the patrol unit, the Lieutenant will oversee daily patrol operations, ensure all Officers are well equipped, educated, trained, and capable of ensuring professional and safe response to incidents. This Lieutenant will oversee and supervise Patrol Sergeants ensuring the mission and values of the organization are upheld. Ensuring compliance standards, accreditation standards, training and education requirements, this Lieutenant will lead the unit to ensure all measures are met to the highest standards. The selected individual will be stationed at the University Park campus and report to theDeputy Chief at University Park. They willcoordinate theworkof both sworn and non-sworn staffand oversee the daily operations of the agency at the campus.

POSITION SPECIFICS
The Penn State University Police and Public Safety (UPPS) department is responsible for protecting and serving more than 100,000 students, employees, and visitors at 22 campuses located throughout Pennsylvania.UPPS is a centralized department with sworn police officers who have full law enforcement authority serving all of the PSU campuses with our headquarters being located at University Park. Responsibilitieswillinclude:
Lead and supervise multiple patrol shifts Develop patrol strategies to accomplish public safety goals of the agency Work within the incident command structure during pre-planned events and emergency situations Completion of performance evaluations Coordinate investigations and case management Review and approve incident reports Manage training Assist with the disciplinary process Schedule management including authorizing leave requests and reviewing employee timecards Interpret and communicate laws and policies, assuring staff comply with established laws and policies Represent the department on appropriate committees and assist with the interpretation of laws and criminal procedure This individual will perform all the duties of a Police Officer when needed Ensure communication paths are effective to and from employees and administration Ensure risk assessments, operation plans, policies and procedures are up to date and upheld Foster an environment that is positive, progressive, and meeting the values and standards of the department Successful candidates will possess: Skills necessary to enhance public respect for law enforcement and the University with courteous, devoted,and ethical service Capacityto work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies Ability to provide effective, honest, and credible testimony at court hearings Outstanding customer service orientation; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent analytical, judgment, ethical decision-making, and organizational skills Ability to work with a wide variety of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedRequired Certifications:
Pennsylvania Driver's License- Pennsylvania Department of Transportation First Aid Certification
- American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Firearms Qualification
- Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission CLEAN Certification
- Pennsylvania State Police Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other accredited organization Act 120
- MPOETC Certification
- Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission The following requirements can be obtained after hire: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $81,312.00- $122,016.00. Salary Structure
