Academy Start Date:
October 2026 The employment process will include a written examination, physical agility test, background investigation, oral interview, drug screening, physical examination and psychological examination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY
21-years of age High School Diploma or GED Must be able to read and write the English Language Must be a U.S. Citizen Never been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor or above Never been convicted of Family Violence Possess a valid Texas Driver's License Has not been discharged from any military service with dishonorable or bad conduct

PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST
At time of Written Exam Val Verde Sheriff's Office. Cadets earn base pay of a cadet position and benefits while training at the Academy. Applicants must be willing to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
