Job Description

Serves as Chief Executive Officer of police operations and administers a comprehensive pro-active program for crime prevention and law enforcement which assures that peace is maintained in the community. Duties include supervision and management of the overall operations of the Police Department and coordination of city police work outside official, organizations and the general public, research, develops and makes recommendations to the city manager and city council on department goals, develops personnel recruitment, processing, selection and training policies

Qualifications:

Knowledge of municipal police administration and organization, technical and operation principles, practices and problems of law enforcement and crime prevention activities, city ordinances, state and federal laws relating to police operation Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, management administration, or a related field, plus at least five years of experience in municipal law enforcement including command level position; Or high school diploma, or its equivalent, and 60 hours of college course work in law enforcement or a related field plus other training courses to attain intermediate law enforcement certification, plus at least eight-year of experience in municipal law enforcement including command level position experience.
