Job Description

The City of Willow Park, Texas, is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and community-focused law enforcement professional to serve as its next Chief of Police. Located along Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Weatherford, Willow Park is one of Parker County'sfastest-growing communities. Home to approximately 8,500 residents with an estimated build-outpopulation of 15,000, the City offers an exceptional quality of life, a strong commitment to public safety, and a collaborative municipal organization. Willow Park operates under a Type A General Law form of government with an elected Mayor, a five-member City Council, and a Council-appointed City Manager. The Willow Park Police Department is authorized for approximately 20 sworn and civilian personnel, including patrol officers, detectives, supervisors, reserve officers, and administrative staff. The department is committed to professionalism, integrity, community engagement, and providing exceptional public safety services. Position Summary The Chief of Police serves as the executive leader of the Willow Park Police Department and reports directly to the City Manager. The Police Chief administers and directs the operations and activities of the Willow Park Police Department; follows, develops, and implements departmental plans, policies, and procedures; responsibly manages departmental resources through a planned budget; interacts cooperatively with other city departments; represents the city to outside agencies/organizations and to the public; and supervises assigned police department personnel.
Responsibilities include:
Providing executive leadership for all police operations and personnel. Developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives. Preparing and administering the department's annual operating budget. Promoting professional development, accountability, and organizational excellence. Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Building strong relationships with residents, businesses, elected officials, regional partners, and other public safety agencies. Advising the City Manager on public safety matters and departmental operations. Fostering a culture of community-oriented policing, transparency, and public trust.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice (preferred), police science, public administration, business administration, or another related field. Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in law enforcement, with at least five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience. Must have a Master s Peace Officer Certification, issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
