Job Description:
The Harrisburg Police Department and the Harrisburg School District are accepting applications for a dedicated and responsible individual. The School Resource Police Officer will work closely with school administrators, teachers, and local law enforcement to ensure the safety of our students, teachers, and staff within the school environment. Responsibilities include- Maintain a visible presence on school property to deter potential threats and respond to emergencies
- build positive relationships with students, teachers, and staff to foster a safe and supportive learning environment
- Develop and implement safety and security procedures with other local departments and school officials
- Respond to incidents of misconduct, violence, threats, or other emergencies according to established protocols
- Provide guidance and support to students on safety related matters and promote positive behaviors. Qualifications include
- Must be a certified law enforcement officer
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students and staff
- Demonstrated the ability to maintain composure in high stress situations and make sound decisions under pressure
- Be committed to keeping the safety and security of students, teachers, and staff a top priority
- have and maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity, as our school resource officers are seen as role models by students while on and off duty.
