Job Overview Patrol Officers are responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing federal, state, and local laws, and protecting life and property. Key duties include patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergency/nonemergency calls, conducting investigations, arresting suspects, and filing detailed reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patrol & Response:
Actively patrol assigned areas by car or foot to deter crime and respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls.
Law Enforcement & Arrests:
Enforce state and local laws, serve warrants; subdue resistant individuals; and process suspects, including booking and transportation.
Investigations:
Conduct preliminary investigations, secure crime scenes, collect evidence, and interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
Documentation:
Write detailed reports on incidents, accidents, and daily activities, ensuring accuracy for legal proceedings.
Traffic Management:
Monitor traffic, enforce traffic laws, investigate accidents, and direct traffic flow.
Community Relations:
Maintain a visible presence, interact with residents, and provide assistance to build trust. Serve as Bailiff/Court security as needed on court days. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The City Administrator, Mayor, and Police Administration may assign additional duties as necessary to meet the operational needs of the City. Required Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Licenses & Certifications Must be certified as a law enforcement officer in the State of Arkansas or able to obtain Arkansas CLEST certification within a specified time. Valid Arkansas driver's license, or ability to obtain one. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, practices, and procedures. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to exercise sound judgment, fairness, and discretion under stressful conditions. Commitment to transparency, accountability, and community-oriented policing. Physical & Working Conditions Ability to perform duties in both office and field environments. May be required to respond to emergencies outside normal business hours. Must meet physical requirements necessary to safely perform essential law enforcement functions.
Pay:
$47,500.00 - $49,067.00 per year
