DESCRIPTION
The Chandler Police Department, Criminal Investigation Bureau is currently accepting applications with resumes from sworn personnel who are interested in the position of Family Violence Detective . The purpose of this specialty opening is to establish an eligibility list for future placement. Officers interested in the position must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a sworn police officer and be off probation. Duties associated with the assignment include, but are not limited to, investigations and follow-up of crimes involving child physical abuse and neglect, domestic violence, vulnerable adult abuse and neglect, child abductions and kidnappings, and aggravated harassment/stalking. Officers interested in the position should possess above average organizational skills, need limited supervision, be self-motivated, and possess strong writing and time management skills. Applicants should also have good investigative skills, strong interview and interrogation techniques, be proficient in search and seizure laws, and be proficient in crime scene management. The assignment has a 4/10 schedule, overtime as necessary, and will include on-call duties. A clothing allowance is paid. Hours associated with this position may change to meet the needs of the department/unit. There is a 5% specialty pay associated with this position. Specialty assignment applications, résumés, and past performance evaluations will be reviewed. An oral board and practical assessment will be conducted. An eligibility list will be established and will be effective for one year. If the testing process takes place outside the employee's normal work hours, then employees may coordinate with their immediate supervisors to flex time to attend their interview / test. Overtime or comp time must be pre-approved and will only be allowed under exceptional circumstances. Officers interested in the position should complete and submit an online application by the end of day July 16, 2025. Applicants can expect the test to be held soon after the closing date.
