The Deputy Director of Security serves as a career Senior Executive and functions as the principal deputy to the Director of Security. The Deputy Director exercises deleged executive authority for the Department's enterprise-wide security programs, including classified informion security. The Deputy Director provides executive leadership, policy direction, and day-to-day operional oversight of nional security, personnel security, physical security, industrial security, emergency preparedness and continuity, insider thre mitigion, and litigion security programs. The incumbent directs subordine senior leaders and specialized security professionals responsible for safeguarding classified and sensitive informion, facilities, personnel, and judicial proceedings across the Department. The position shares full executive accountability with the Director for ensuring compliance with Executive Orders governing classified informion, Intelligence Community Directives, Department of Justice regulions, and stutory authorities, including the Classified Informion Procedures Act (CIPA), 18 U.S.C. App. III. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Security Leadership & Oversight:
Serving as senior security advisor to the Director of Security and Assistant Attorney General for Administrionoverseeing DOJ-wide personnel, informion, and physical security programs. Directing enterprise security clearance, insider thre, and continuous evaluion programs. Leading COOP planning, facility security, and emergency preparedness initiives.
Policy Development & Compliance:
Developing, implementing, and monitoring DOJ-wide security policies. Ensuring compliance with federal laws, Executive Orders, and directives. Conducting audits, risk assessments, and program evaluions to maintain operional readiness and policy alignment.
Program Management & Implemention:
Overseeing deployment of security programs across all DOJ components. Coordining with human capital, IT, facilities, and law enforcement to integre security measures. Establishing performance metrics and ensuring agency-wide adoption of best practices.
Supervisory & Managerial Duties:
Leading, mentoring, and evaluing staff; managing workflow, budgets, training, and organizional priorities. The incumbent ensures staff compliance with security and safety standards.
Interagency Coordinion & Represention:
Representing DOJ in nional security forums, councils, and interagency initiives. As Deputy Director, the incumbent collabores with federal partners and responds to oversight inquiries reled to security programs. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
Conditions of Employment:
You must be a United Stes Citizen or Nional. Veterans' preference is not applicable to the Senior Executive Service. Selective Service registrion is required for males born on, or after, December 31st, 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file. You required to undergo a drug screening and obtain favorable results prior to being appointed. You may be subject to a one-year probionary period effective from the de in which you are appointed.
