Police Officer Salary:
$71,854 - $117,125
Position Summary:
This is police work involving the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The Department is accepting applications for Police Officer (Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officers) and Police Cadet (Full Academy Sponsorship Program -or- Equivalency of Training Academy Sponsorship for out-of-state Certified Law Enforcement Officer). Certified Police Officer candidates may be eligible for a new hire incentive payment and a higher pay grade for prior law enforcement experience. This position requires a supplemental application information and documents. Applicants will only be considered after submitting required documents. Applicants will be invited to participate in the pre-employment process once an application is submitted.
Requirements:
Qualified applicants must possess and maintain a State of Florida Class "E" Driver License; are at least 19 years of age; must meet the education requirement of 45 semester hours (for full academy sponsorship), 60 semester hours (for Out-of-State and Florida Certified law enforcement officers) or the requirements for exemption of college hours based on three (3) years of military or two (2) years of sworn law enforcement experience (corrections experience does not qualify); and must meet all criteria of the City's current "Selection Standards for Police Officer Positions". Selection standards and position requirements are listed on the above-mentioned webpage. Candidates that meet all the selection standards may be invited to participate in the pre-employment screening process to determine the most qualified applicants. The process includes a Physical Abilities Test, Background Investigation, Polygraph, Departmental Interview, Psychological Evaluation and post-offer employment Medical Exam and Drug Test.
