$55,000

Position Summary:

This is a participatory commissioned position providing general law enforcement and service related duties for a Board of Regents Institution. Work involves knowledge of federal, state, university and departmental laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Must demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making within limits prescribed by laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Essential Functions:

Patrols assigned area and university facilities.; Prevents and detects criminal and traffic law violations.; Provides support services such as locking and unlocking facilities.; Provides motorist assistance such as vehicle jump starts and vehicle unlocking.; Arrests violators for violations of criminal and traffic laws.; Provides assistance to visitors such as giving directions or escorts.; Reports hazardous situations or conditions of university facilities.; Appears in court to testify in cases.

Requirements:

High School diploma or Georgia State accredited GED certificate required.; Must have a valid driver's license. ; Must be able to successfully complete the Georgia POST peace officer certification as defined by

O.C.G.A. 35-8-8.

; No felony convictions or crimes of moral turpitude.; May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without help.; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 20/20 or 20/20 corrected. ; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with hearing disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Preferred Requirements:

Associates Degree or higher preferred.
