at Ponderay Police Department in Ponderay, Idaho, United States Job Description The City of Ponderay is accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer. Entry-level and Lateral applicants are encouraged to apply. The City of Ponderay is the home to approximately 2,200 residents and encompasses approximately three square miles. While the city itself is small, Ponderay is the business and economic center for Bonner and Boundary Counties, as well as the rural areas of Northwest Montana and Northeast Washington. It is estimated that the City of Ponderay accommodates as many as 15,000 people during daytime hours and an estimated 10,000+ vehicles pass through the intersection of Highway 95 and Kootenai Cutoff Road daily. Ponderay sits on the bank of Lake Pend Oreille to the east and is at the base of Idaho's largest ski resort, Schweitzer Mountain Resort, to the west. This unique combination provides always-evolving law enforcement needs, as well as excellent year-round activities and recreation opportunities while off-duty. The Ponderay Police Department consists of 7 sworn officers and 1 support staff, serving an ever-growing community. The department has built an excellent reputation with the community and excels from a great culture of teamwork and service.

  • POST Certified Instructor (Topics such as: Defensive Tactics / Arrest Techniques, Taser or Less-Lethal, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Firearms, DUI / Standard Field Sobriety Evaluations, DRE Instructor, etc.)
  • Patrol Supervisor
  • Administrative Supervisor
  • ILETS Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC)
  • Various Community Oriented Policing (COP) opportunities.
