Responsibilities include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, providing assistance to the public, conducting crime prevention activities, and supporting investigations. The position requires maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and fostering positive community relationships through consistent engagement and professional conduct. As a dedicated police officer, you'll be the trusted bridge between safety and community connection, protecting the public while fostering trust and understanding. Working with both independence and collaboration, you'll respond to emergencies, assist those in need, and engage in proactive crime prevention. Your role blends vigilance with compassion, ensuring neighborhoods feel secure, supported, and heard. This is more than enforcing laws; it's about making a meaningful difference in everyday lives. In this role as a police officer, you'll be a visible and trusted presence in the community, balancing law enforcement with genuine public service. Operating with both autonomy and teamwork, you'll handle a range of responsibilities from responding to urgent calls to offering guidance and assistance in everyday situations. Beyond maintaining safety, you'll work to build lasting relationships, prevent crime through engagement, and ensure every interaction leaves the community feeling protected, respected, and valued. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly range of $32.84 to $43.09, with a hiring rate of $32.84 per hour, plus eligibility for the District's full-time benefits package.
