Pay Grade 515 This position is eligible to receive hazardous duty supplemental pay at $90/month ($0.52 per hour) upon hire.

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to assist the Lexington Police Department as non-sworn employees to increase efficiency, enhance community relations, provide crowd and traffic control, faster respond to traffic collisions and issue citations for non-moving violations
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma, GED or equivalent No experience required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds to traffic-related calls for service Directs traffic at collision scenes and special events Investigates traffic collisions where a fatality is not involved Issues citations for non-moving violations and impounds illegally parked vehicles Prepares reports and maintains required paperwork Assists with emergency areas and other disaster scenes Appears for hearings and court trials related to parking citations and code violations Assists with traffic safety programs Operates LFUCG owned vehicles in emergency (lights and siren) mode Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Valid Driver's License Must successfully complete at least one hundred twenty (120) hours of appropriate training, certified by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council prior to being appointed
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 21 years of age Subject to shift work, twenty-four (24) hour call-back, holiday and weekend duty Subject to a polygraph and an extensive background check prior to employment and/or after employment Subject to random drug testing after employment Must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor Must not be members of the police department within the meaning of
KRS 95.010
(2), nor entitled to share in the policemen's and firemen's retirement fund Must be able to competently operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner All positions require a post-job offer, pre-employment physical examination and drug screening as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. Subject to biennial job-related physical examinations Pursuant to the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 and to sections 21-52, 22-34 and 23-50 of the Code of Ordinances, all employees must remain drug and alcohol free when reporting to work, while at work and while engaged in any work-related activities. Based on Federal Regulations 19-10 this position may be eligible for and offered the hepatitis vaccinations. In addition, employees will be required to sign a statement stating they have accepted or declined the hepatitis vaccination.
