CITY OF MULDRAUGH
Applicants for peace officer positions in Kentucky must pass the POPS (Peace Officer Professional Standards) physical agility test. This test is part of the pre-selection screening process and assesses an applicant's physical preparedness for law enforcement duties. Key points about POPS testing in

Required for all applicants: The POPS physical agility test is a mandatory requirement for all applicants to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC).
Minimum score requirement:
To pass, applicants must achieve an overall minimum score of 50 points.
Test content:
The POPS test battery includes five events designed to measure strength, muscular endurance, anaerobic power, and cardiovascular endurance, according to the KLEC.

None Summary of Position:
Under general supervision, performs police duties in the enforcement of laws and ordinances, prevention of crime, and protection of life and property, and performs related work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A.
Essential:
1. Patrols the City on foot and in cruiser on regularly assigned shifts. Checks doors and windows and examines premises of residences (upon request), business and/or unoccupied buildings. 2. Responds to all calls received during shift, takes proper action and prepares accurate reports. 3. Issues citations for moving vehicle and/or parking violations. 4. Makes arrests and appears in court, when necessary 5. Controls traffic at school crossings, fires, accidents, parades, etc. 6. Secures the scene at fires, crimes, and accidents 7. Conducts preliminary investigations, gathers evidence, interviews witnesses and prepares reports. 8. Performs investigative duties when necessary 9. Administers breathalyzer test when warranted 10. Maintains order in crowds, meetings, etc. when necessary 11. Enforces laws and ordinances. 12. Participates in approved law enforcement training courses as required. B.

Qualifications:
A.
Training and experience:
High School graduate or equivalent. Military or college training and be able to complete the POPS (Police Officer Professional Standards) course (See KRS Chapter 95 for additional requirements). B. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1.
Knowledge:
a. Working knowledge of the applicable Federal, State and Local laws and ordinances b. Working knowledge of the police operations as applied to patrol, traffic control and investigations c. Extensive knowledge of the geography of the City d. Working knowledge of operating characteristics, occupational hazards, safety precautions, and servicing methods of departmental vehicles and equipment e. Knowledge of OSHA safety rules (

Normal maintenance and use of vehicles, firearms, finger printing kits, cameras, recorders, breathalyzers, less lethal weapons, radar, radio equipment, telephones and normal office equipment of the department F.
Physical requirements of the job:
Must have strength agility and mobility to apprehend persons when necessary. Must be able to assist motorists. Work is performed both outdoors and indoors regardless of weather conditions, requiring sitting, and standing, running, or walking, lifting heavy objects weighing more than twenty-five pounds. Must be able to operate a vehicle in all types of weather. G.

Frequent contact with the public and City officials and employees requiring tact and diplomacy is a requirement of the job. H.
