Job Description

Grambling State University is a comprehensive, historically-black, public institution that offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs of study. Through its undergraduate major courses of study, which are under girded by a traditional liberal arts program, and through its graduate school, which has a decidedly professional focus, the University embraces its founding principle of educational opportunity. The university advances the study and preservation of African American history, art and culture. Grambling State University is seeking to fill three Full-time Police Officer 1 positions. These Police Officers will provide a range of law enforcement services to help in protecting students, faculty and staff while on campus premises by conducting patrols, enforcing laws and regulations, investigating crimes, and making arrests. No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Provides crowd and traffic control at special events; may be required to intervene in situations utilizing force if necessary to make an arrest, to restore order, prevent interference with normal operations or to protect persons or property. Protects lives and property through active foot patrols, enforcing laws and investigating crimes. Provides foot or mobile security patrol and enforces parking regulations. Prepares written reports for record and testifying purposes. Responds to emergencies and renders assistance as required. Other duties as assigned Position•

This position will be filled as either a Police Officer 1, Police Officer 2, or Police Officer 3 depending on prior experience of selected candidate.
Standard Work Schedule:
6:00 AM-6:00 PM; OR 6:00 PM-6:00 AM Hours are subject to change.
Compensation:
Special Entrance Rates (SER): Police Officer 1
  • $38,646.40 annually Police Officer 2
  • $41,350.40 annually Police Officer 3
  • $44,241.
60 annually This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
