The Town of Shrewsbury's Police Department is seeking dedicated, full-time academy-trained Police Officers to join our growing team of 63 sworn officers. This is an exceptional opportunity to serve a community-focused town while leveraging state-of-the-art facilities, including a new headquarters opened in 2023 that features a 50-seat training room, a MILO simulation training facility, and an in-station fitness center. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Actively engage with Shrewsbury's 40,000 residents to co-produce public safety and improve overall quality of life. Patrol assigned areas by vehicle, bicycle, or foot; respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Enforce Massachusetts General Laws and local bylaws; conduct initial investigations, interview witnesses, and preserve crime scenes. Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive written reports for incident documentation and court prosecution.
WHAT YOU BRING
Graduates of a MPTC-approved full-time police academy highly preferred. High School Diploma or GED required (Associates or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field preferred). Must be 21-32 years old (age is a Civil Service Requirement for new hires). Veterans can add up to 4 years to their age eligibility based on service time, allowing for a maximum age limit up to 36. Must live within 15 miles of Town borders within 9 Months following appointment (map of eligible Towns attached here). Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms (LTC) Valid MA Driver's License required. Ability to pass intensive pre-hire process, including background, psychological evaluation, medical exam, and physical ability test.

In addition, our Education Incentive for our officers is one of the most competitive compensatory benefits in the State! An additional compensation up to 25% of the base salary is added for education, depending on level of degree . The Town of Shrewsbury offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, a pension, an extensive employee assistance program, the opportunity for professional development, 12 paid holidays, and competitive paid time off, including short-term disability and three to five weeks of vacation time (depending on length of service).
