Supervisory Police Officer (Patrol Branch Chief) Duties

• Serves as the senior Supervisory Police Officer (Patrol Branch Chief) with the Directorate of Operations at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
• Responsible for the operational status of all police officers and civilian employees assigned to the following branches; Police Desk, Police Records, Supply and Logistics, Information Technology, and Emergency Communications activities.
• Performs duties as a supervisory federal police officer performing law enforcement duties in an area of exclusive federal jurisdiction.
• Ensures that assigned personnel properly law enforcement duties for the installation.
• Performs law enforcement duties in an area of exclusive federal jurisdiction.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance, and enforcement of a full range of Federal, State, local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations as they pertain to law enforcement work, and the supervision of others engaged in such duties. Requirements Conditions of employment
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Incumbent to successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfatd from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
• Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually tafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
• This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
• Incumbent must be able to successfully pass the National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination tafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requires the incumbent to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT). Failure to meet the standards after the second attempt within a ninety-day period will result in separation.
• This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with

AR 190-56.

• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
• This position is subject to the provisions of the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• Federal law requires removal of a federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies after the law took effect on January 20, 2001.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
• This position requires incumbent to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
• A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
