Duties Help The purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor and/or flight chief, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Security Forces Flight. This position performs the following duties: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Selects or recommends selection of candides for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in considerion of skills and qualificions, mission requirements, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)objectives. Develops, modifies, and/or interprets performance standards. Explains performance expections to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Holds employees responsible for sisfactory completion of work assignments. Appraises subordine workers performance ensuring consistency and equity in ring techniques. Recommends awards when approprie and approves within-grade increases. Hears and resolves employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher level management. Represents the Security Forces Flight with a variety of functional area organizions. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relionships with the base community. Meets with key customer and coordining officials to assess customer sisfaction, explain organizion policy and procedures, and resolve problems th arise. Provides or ensures th subordines provide customer guidance and training. Participes in special projects and initiives and performs special assignments. Identifies the need for special projects and inities milestones and goals. Evalues reports by analyzing facts and performing approprie research and prepares detailed responses. Determines approprie recommendions for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up. Researches and determines or recommends approprie actions or interpretion of issues th impact the organizion. Performs and enforces the full range of police officer duties within the military facility. Incumbent has full powers of apprehension and detention which entails carrying a firearm, opering Security Forces vehicles and equipment, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence and testifying in court as it pertains to enforcing regulions on a military installion. The incumbent is required to meet all requirements of Federal, Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force (AF), NGB, Ste, and local level rules and regulions to maintain qualificion as a police officer whose jurisdiction is only within the confines of the military facility. Directs and ensures thorough investigions of accidents, suspicious activities, and arrests, and promotes community relions. Directs and supervises the dispch operion activities involving security force prols to scenes of crimes, accidents, nural disasters, and apprehensions. Directs or personally performs preliminary and final short-term investigions of a broad range of alleged and actual crimes occurring solely within the local facility jurisdiction. Directs and ensures th all individuals requesting access to the facility have the proper identificion credentials before entering. Directs and participes in training exercises and evaluions to increase proficiency and upde skills and knowledge of organizion/flight personnel. Responds to calls for emergency assistance to include traffic accidents, suicides, burglary, robbery, sex offenses, suspicious persons, castrophic events, scenes of crimes/nural disasters, and possibly murder, and enemy tacks, and makes apprehensions. Acts as the on-scene incident commander for significant and castrophic events as required and inities Air Force Incident Management System (AFIMS) as needed. Interacts with members of the public to determine their involvement in incidents to include interviewing, advising them of their rights, obtaining stements, and detaining or apprehending violors. Performs traffic duty to include opering radar detection devices, directing traffic, escorting dignitaries, and conducting sobriety tests. Enforces weapons systems security standards, traffic rules and regulions, including those reled to speed, reckless and drunken driving. Stops violors, notifies them of the traffic offense committed, and issues armed forces traffic tickets and DoD violion notices as approprie. Ensures accure completion of required paperwork, forms, and reports. Performs other duties as assigned. This is an excepted service position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the employing ste's Nional Guard, required prior to the effective de of placement. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Qualified to bear firearms according to AFI 31-117, "Arming and Use of Force by Air Force Personnel". EXPERIENCE

: 1 year equivalent to least next lower grade level (GS-06). Experience th provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulions, law enforcement operions, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing or protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other nural resource or recreional environments; in performing criminal investigive duties; or in other work th provided the required knowledge and skills. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candides' experience should be evalued on the basis of duties performed rher than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position. Requirements (continued) Never convicted by a civilian court of a Cegory One, Two, or Three offense, nor exceeded the accepted number of Cegory Four offenses. Medical Requirements:

To qualify for this series, a current physical and a cleared drug test are mandory. Normal color vision and normal depth perception are required, as defined by current Air Force Medical Examinions and Standards Instructions Distance visual acuity correctable to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. No speech disorder or noticeable communicion deficiency as defined in

AFI 48-123.

No diagnosed fear of acrophobia (fear of heights) or confined spaces. To qualify for this series, must confirm there is no history of emotional instability, personality disorder, or other unresolved mental health problems. No record of sleep disorders to include, but not limited to, sleep apneas, insomnias, hyper-somnias, narcolepsy, or restless leg syndrome. No current diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or Perceptual/Learning Disorder(s); and, prescribed medicion(s) to tre these disorders in the last 12 months. No history of mood disorders including bipolar disorder, major depression, dysthymia, or depression not otherwise specified.
