Job Description
Police Officer Certified - pay range $60,000.00 - $68,500.00. The University Park Police Department protects the residents and visitors of the Town of University Park in Prince George's County, Maryland. We are an agency that practices the principles of community policing and utilizes the pillars of the Presidential Report on 21st Century Policing as our guide. We are looking for passionate and experienced police officers to join our team of law enforcement professionals. The residents of University Park support public safety and take great pride in working in partnership with the police department to keep the town safe. Examples of Important Duties University Park Police Officer, your primary responsibilities will include: Proactively patrol the town of University Park by cruiser, bicycle, or foot. Observing and reporting incidents of vandalism and violations of state law and town ordinances. Noting and reporting unsafe and unsightly conditions within the town. Directing traffic and parking. Responding to calls for service and rendering services as needed. Issuing traffic citations and warnings and making arrests. Securing crime or accident scenes and taking statements from victims and witnesses. Writing incidents and vehicle accident reports within the jurisdiction of University Park. Engaging with residents and visitors throughout the town of University Park willingly. Minimum Qualifications U.S. citizen Twelve (12) months of experience as a Police Officer. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. MPCTC Card in good standing. Eligible for rehire from your most recent previous employer. High School Graduate. At least one year's experience in a previous law enforcement occupation is required. Leadership or military experience is preferred. Police Instructors and bilingual officers are encouraged to apply.
